Whim 19: Sail Boat Cushion

A nautical project as I'm spending a week at my parents house which overlooks a harbour filled with all kinds of fascinating boats.
This is the first one of these that I have made, but I am going to try more with different colours, accents and a removable cover.

Old Project 2: Hundertwasser Stitch and Slash

The placement school that I was working in on my PGCE did the art textiles GCSE exam rather than the technology one, and the walls are full of interesting experimental fabric techniques. I had never done the stitch and slash method of quilting before, and the ones displayed looked brilliant, so I thought I'd have a go.

This sample was based on the Hundertwasser painting The Big Way. I have loved Hunderwasser's work for many years and thought that the structure and colours of this piece in particular fitted the technique.

This is one of my favourite projects ever - I love how it turned out and wish I could find some use for it! Might be good as a cushion come to think of it...

Old projects 1: Monster Pencil Case

I've decided to merge my various blogs into one (this one!) so i'm going to be posting my favourite posts from those sites on here, just as a record of old projects i'm proud of.

Another project in my monster series: an angry monster pencil case. The mouth is a zip, so the monster can gobble up your pens and pencils!
I managed to design it, buy components for and complete the make all in one day. I made a few changes to the original design (swapped eyebrows for a nose, and changed the horn colours), but I'm pleased with how it has turned out!

I'm a little creeped out by this looking back on it and I think the nose is pretty awful! But overall a good make and I like the fact that I did a design drawing too.

Whim 18: Animal Brooches

Two animal brooches I have made recently, one a stuffed fox head, and the other an embroidered crab with beaded edge.
